Attorney John T. Knapp brings years of divorce and family law experience to the clients he serves at Simon, O’Brien, & Knapp. Mr. Knapp has been licensed to practice in New Jersey courts for 18 years. He is admitted to the New Jersey Bar as well as the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Mr. Knapp earned his undergraduate degree at Montclair State University and his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law. Upon receiving his law degree, he immediately began working at an active general practice firm, where he eventually rose to a partner role and became the firm’s head of divorce and family law.
Mr. Knapp joined Simon, O’Brien, & Knapp in 2009, where he once again headed the firm in all matters of matrimonial issues, as well as domestic violence cases. His professionalism and competence in these areas once again led to him becoming a firm partner in 2012.
Since 2009, Mr. Knapp has provided diligent legal representation in divorce and family law matters, including alimony, domestic abuse, prenuptial agreements, child custody and parenting time, child support, paternity, grandparents’ rights, parental alienation, and equitable marital property distribution cases which may involve complex real estate holdings, high net worth, business and professional practice valuations, family trusts, and more.
Mr. Knapp handles all proceedings in matrimonial and family law matters, such as bench trials, mediation (both as a mediator and client advocate), arbitration, plenary hearings, motions, depositions, settlement negotiations, and appeals. He has acted as a mediator in cases for the New Jersey Superior Court, as well as been a volunteer panelist for the Matrimonial Early Settlement Panel program in Sussex and Morris counties.
